Search engine indexing

In order to change the search engine indexing, click the arrow or link Current setting... a new view will show.

Visible is default so that the internal search engine and the external search engines will find the page. If you would like to hide a page and it is hidden in menus you usually would like to uncheck this alternative as well, otherwise the page can be found though search engines.

Inherit settings

Will inherit settings from parent.

Change and propagate settings

With this option you cease the inheritance and decide if the new settings should be propagated or not. The options Shown or Hidden can not be chosen.

Local settings independent of inheritance

Existing propagation will stay but the current page will have a local setting.
Observe! This setting you can make on pages, images, files, and link pages. The built search engine will take new settings instantly whereas the external search engines like Google take some time to adapt the changes.

Settings for search hits

Priority

Here you decide on the priority the web page should have in searches. By default the setting is Normal. If you have a page you would like to have a higher priority you pull the arrow toward highest.
Priority
If you would like the page to be the first in the search you set the priority to Highest.

Priority is made both for the internal search engine of SiteVision and for Sitemaps.

Update frequency

Here you decide how often you would like the search engines (who are using sitemaps) to update the search hits. By default the setting is Not set up. If it is a document which is updated frequently you set the frequency to e.g. daily. The following frequences are available:
Fupdate frequency
Observe! If you make the settings for these documents in order to have a base for Sitemaps it is important to also activate this function beneath Search engine configuration.

Search engine status for current document

Here you can see if you have problem with the search index or if it is ok. You can also see when the page was indexed last. The page will be indexed when the page is published.

Some different status:

  • Failed - For instance an encrypted PDF-document or settings for Search that are configured incorrectly.
  • Corrupt document - the page or the document might have been removed and thrown.
  • Unpublished - possibly a page or file not yet published.
  • In trashcan - if the document is in the trashcan.
  • Not in search index - If the page has the setting Hidden on search engine indexing.
  • OK- good, will be found in searches.
