Snapshots (source server)

You can export the content for a SiteVision website to a different server in a so called snapshot. This is enable you to work on a different server with the same website and save the changes from on server (the so called source server) to the other (called the target server). When you have created a snapshot logging will automatically start for changes on the website.

It is only possible to create a snapshot for a website and not for parts of it. The result, an SVA file must be moved to the new server (the target server) by the user.

Here all snapshot are shown for a certain website. This view is only shown on the source server.

Snapshots

Create snapshot

By clicking the plus sign the user can create a new snapshot. A new window will open Create snapshot. Here the user specify a name which will be used to identify the snapshot. Click Ok.
create snapshot
Observe! The name of the snapshot can not be too long. Windows are unable to handle longer paths than 255 chars. The search path contains the entire address to the file location and the name of the snapshot.
The new snapshot then needs to be imported on the target server. When you later would like to fetch changes from the source server you import these instead of importing the entire website again.

Remove snapshot

By clicking on the minus button the user can remove a snapshot. Select the snapshot to remove in the list and then click the minus button.

Export changes

When selecting a snapshot in the list, exported changes will be shown in the lower list. Select a snapshot in the list if you would like to create a new export of changes for that snapshot.

Export changes

Export changes by clicking the button. A new window will open where you give the change a name:
Update
Observe! The name of the snapshot can not be too long. Windows are unable to handle longer paths than 255 chars. The search path contains the entire address to the file location and the name of the snapshot.
The name is used to identify the event. You create a new export of changes when you would like to transfer changes from the source- to the target målserver.

All exported changes are shown in the list. If you for instance would like to create an export of all changes since update 2 you select update 2 in the list and click the icon "Export changes". The export update x will then contain all made changes since update 2.

If you update the target server with update 3 this is the change to select in the list at the next occasion.

Create change
Observe! If the target server has update 1 you always need to begin an export from update 1 in order to collect all changes. You can make an export from update 3 but it can not be imported on to the target server.

Export all changes since current snapshot

You can also export all changes. It is only possible to import on a target server who has not imported changes (because then it needs to start from the correct change). This is the same as selecting the first change in the list and clicking on "Export changes".
