Access requirements

Beneath Access requirements you can set protocol requirements in order to reach certain pages on the web site. Useful for instance if certain pages (e.g. pages with personal information) should be encrypted but not the entire website.

If you would like to use this solution we recommend you to set HTTP on the website. If HTTP is not the setting for the website all pages you browse to after been on an encrypted page will be shown as https.

There after you go to the sub pages where you would like HTTPS and select the HTTPS alternative.

Settings

Inherit settings

Settings are inherited from parent pages. If you create a sub page where HTTPS is selected, these settings will be inherited to the new page if this box is checked.

No restrictions

Default setting, you can use either HTTP or HTTPS.

HTTP

Enables access to page only through the HTTP protocol (without SSL).

HTTPS (SSL)

Enables access to the page only through SSL encryption. If a visitor tries to reach a page through HTTP the request will be automatically redirected through HTTPS if the page has a HTTPS requirement.

In order to use access requirements a certificat needs to be installed and HTTPS set up on the physical server where the website is located. Read more about this in the tutorial about access requirements.

If you download a file via https a browser setting is required in Internet Explorer. Select the menu Tools and then Internet options. Beneath the tab Advanced -> Security, there is a check box, do not save encrypted files. Ensure the setting is activated for Internet Explorer.

This function requires the permission "Site properties".
