Rights

Beneath the tab General can you select rights for the current role. The rights are divided into:

General:


Read:


Give read rights for pages and files. The user only has permission to read pages, i.e. not to enter editing mode.

Review:


Gives ability to review publishing step in viewing mode although only having read rights on a page.

Write:


Gives right to write for pages and files. If you have this right you have permission to edit everything on the website and in the file and image archive.

Delete:


Gives right to remove different kinds of objects, pages/links/folders/files, and images. All users have rights to remove portlets on a webpage.

Publish:


Gives right to publish pages. If a user tries to publish a page without this permission, and a publishing flow is created for the page, a publishing flow will start.

Publish with subpages:


If a user should have permission to publish subpages to the selected page, this right needs to be checked. Does also require rights to Publish and Direct publish.

Direct

publish:


Gives rights to make a direct publish without going through any possibly workflows, mandatory metadata, scheduling, or link controls.

Publish broken links:


Gives rights to publish a page although the system claims a link is broken. Possibly a server can be down and the editor knows the link will function shortly.
Observe! In Site properties (Advanced settings) the function check internal/external links at publishing needs to be activated.

Perform

Gives right to perform a link check recursively.

Add absolute content:


Gives right to add absolute positioned content. If a user has this rights he has permission to place portlets anywhere on a webpage.

In the template there will then be an alternative Absolute content above the content area. If you highlight this you can place absolute positioned content.

There will also be some additional icons related to absolute content e.g. Add content area and move layout.

Navigator:


Show sidebar:


Gives the user rights to activate the sidebar, that is the list to the left displaying the navigator and content.

Show page templates:


If you check this alternative the user has permission to see the page templates and edit these but not create new templates. In the menu in the navigator you can enter Page templates mode.
Observe! If you do not have this right you do not have permission to enter page template mode.

Show decoration templates:


If you check this option the user have access to the decoration templates and can also edit them, but not create new.

Observe! If you do not have this permission right, you will not be able to enter viewing mode for the decoration templates.

Show file archive:


This right gives the user access to the file archive through the menu in the navigator.
Observe! This right is not connected to the permission to add files! The right to do that you set directly on the image or file archive folder, the same way you have access control on a page.

Show image archive:


This right gives the user access to the image archive through the menu in the navigator.
Observe! This right is not connected to the permission to add images! The right to do that you set directly on the image or file archive folder, the same way you have access control on a page.

Create


Create webpage:


Gives right to create webpages. Will display the icon Page when clicking the icon New page.

Create site:


Gives right to create websites. Will display the icon Website when clicking the icon New page.

Create link:


Gives right to create link pages. Will display the icon Link when clicking the icon New page.

Create folder:


Gives right to create folders in the structure. Will display the icon Folder when clicking the icon New page.

Create archive:


Gives right to create new archives. Will display the icon Archive when clicking the icon New page.

Create structural node:


Gives right to create structural pages, structural folders, and structural links, that is copies of existing pages, folders and links.

Create template:


Gives rights to create new page templates. Must be combined with the right Show page template so the editor can reach the templates.

Create template component:


This is an old right still in place for backwards compability, you do not need to check this box. It is not possible to create new template components.

Create decoration template


Gives the user right to create new decoration templates. Needs to be combined with the right to Show decoration templates.

Create layout


The user will have the right to create layouts on webpages and in templates.

Create linked layout


Enables the user to create linked layouts on webpages and in page templates.

Appearance


Manage web page layout:


This right is required for the user in order to change a layout on a page. That is the right to right click on a layout/portlet and see the properties:

You can set padding, margin, settings (width, height, overflow), appearance (background color/image, borders and flow).

You can also right click on a page, choose Properties and the alternative Appearance to make settings like background color, popup window and title.

If you use absolute template this right gives the editor right to move portlets on the page.

Manage site colors:


This alternative gives the editor right to create and edit the predefined colors on the website. The editor will have access to the tabs Website colors and Color mapping on Site properties.

Manage font templates:


Gives the user right to create and edit font templates. On Site properties the user will see the tabs Font templates and Template mapping.

Manage decorations:


Gives the user right to save and edit decorations. A decoration is a saved setting (for appearance and margins) on a portlet or layout. Requires the right Manage web page layout in order to be able to make a setting to save.

If you have this right you can right click on a portlet/layout and save the decoration.

Gives the user right to on the site properties, edit existing decorations.

Use bold and italic in texts and tables:


Gives the user right to choose himself whether to use bold or italic in the text and table portlet. The icons below (b) (i)will be shown on the toolbar.

Use custom colors:  


Gives the user right to add custom colors on pages and portlets. See example below for adding a custom color in a text portlet.

In order to be able to select a custom color as a background color for a page or portlet the also require the right Manage web page layout. Right click on a portlet -> background color <Select custom color...>

Page-specific:


Manage subscriptions:


Gives the user right to reach the subscription tab on web pages. It is then possible to activate a subscription, edit an email address, import new subscribers, and show email addresses for subscribers.

Generate access log statistics:


Gives rights to right click a page, select Properties and then see the tab Statistics.

Manage metadata definitions:


Gives the user right to create and edit metadata definitions.

If you select this option the user will see the Properties button and remove button on the tab metadata on Site properties.

Users having this right can also see the metadata where the alternative Only visible for metadata administrators is inactive:

Change template:


The alternative Change template will be visible when right clicking on a web page in editing mode. If the content areas have the same name you can easy change template for a web page.
Observe! If you are logged in a system user you will also see the alternative Change template recursively.

Administration

Manage directory settings:


Will allow a user to see the tab Directory services beneath Security. Here you decide is the directory should be inherited from parent (if existing) or create/remove directory service.

Change password:


Allow an editor to double click on a user in the directory list and change password for him. This requires that the box Allow changes of directory data is checked on the properties for the directory service->advanced so you have the rights to write in the directory service. in order to reach the security tab you need to have the rights to Manage rights.

Observe! If having this right you still need the old password to change the password. If you are logged in as system user you can change password without stating the old passwod.

Manage rights:


Gives the user right to change rights for existing users and give out rights to new users. This right should be reserved for server administrators.

Observe! The sorting of roles is important since you only have permission to change rights corresponding to your own rights and the roles below your own in the list. Therefor should the role with the highest permission/rights be furthest up in the list. If you have the right Manage roles you can sort roles.
It is also possible to add new users and assign roles (not hight than your own role) to them. It is possible to remove users.

Manage roles (role administrator):


Gives the user right to create new roles and edit existing roles. This right should only be given to server administrators. This right must be combined with the right Manage rightes.

Unlock page locks:


Gives the user right to unlock other users page locks provided the functionality is activated on Site properties. When clicking a page lock you will see the following question:

It is also possible to beneath the site properties see the pages currently locked and unlock them.

Site properties:


Gives rights to edit settings on Site properties. It does not give rights to edit metadata definitions, since that permission belong to its own right.

Beneath Website properties you see all tabs. Beneath Messages you see all tabs. Beneath Appearance you only see dotted lists. Beneath Security you see the tabs Access requirements, Active users, and User profiles.

Server properties:


The server object you will only see logged in as a system user, it is unnecessary to give rights to the server for anyone else.

Export/Import pages:


Gives right to export and import pages or websites. This right should only be given to server administrators. It is then possible to right click and export the entire web site or parts of it as a copy.

Advanced configuration


Manage HEAD elements


Gives right to make addition for RSS, Scheduling, CSS, and Java script in head. The user will be able to see the tab Additional HEAD elements on General site properties.

Insert custom code into CSS


Gives rights to add code into SiteVision's CSS. The button Insert custom CSS on Site properties -> advanced settings will become active.

Requires the right to Site properties in order to see the tab Advances settings.

Manage Logica ME


If having a license for this functionality it gives the user the right to manage Logica ME on the web page.

Workflow


Supervise publishing flows


Gives the user right to see the button er  "Attend to current flow" in a publishing flow.

Gives the user right to create, remove or edit a publishing flow. The right also includes the permission to decide if the work flow should be inherited.
Observe! In order to create or remove something you need the right to Write.

Observe! Roles are global for each website! Hence, you can edit a role on a subpage and the change will affect the role on the entire web site.
