Get started with the Analysis Assistant

For the Analytics Assistant to work, you must be using Sitevision web analytics.

To set up the connection between Sitevision and Piwik PRO, please follow the steps in this guide. This requires configuring settings in both Piwik PRO and Sitevision.

Settings in Piwik PRO

You need to make the following settings in Piwik PRO:

API key

  1. Go to Menu -> Click on your email address -> Select the API keys option
  2. Click Create a key
  3. Give your new key a name
  4. Copy and save the Client ID and Client Secret for later use.

Event dimension

  1. Go to Menu -> Analytics -> Settings -> Custom dimensions.
  2. If you are using the standard solution in Sitevision web analytics, it is always slot number 1. If a custom event dimension is used, note the slot number.

Data layer variable

  1. Go to Menu -> Tag Manager -> Variables.
  2. Click Add a variable.
  3. Select Data Layer and click Next. Enter the following parameters:
    • Variable name: Sitevision - PageID.
    • Data layer variable name: sitevision .pageId.

Custom dimension

  1. Go to Menu -> Tag Manager -> Tags -> Piwik PRO.
  2. Scroll to Custom dimensions and click Add a dimension. Enter the following parameters:
    • Dimension: Sitevision - PageID.
    • Dimension value: Sitevision - PageID.
  3. Click Publish in the upper right corner.

Settings in Sitevision

You need to make the following settings in Sitevision:

1. Download Piwik PRO - RESTApi from the Marketplace

  1. Install Piwik PRO - RESTApi (sv-piwik-pro-backend) via the Marketplace
  2. Go to Sitevision -> Add-ons -> Search for "sv-piwik-pro-backend"
  3. Select Properties -> Restrictions. For "All logged-in users," allow both GET and POST. GET is checked by default.

2. Download Piwik Pro Analytics from the Marketplace

  1. Install Piwik Pro Analytics (piwik-pro-analytics) via the Marketplace
  2. Go to Sitevision -> Add-ons - > Search for "piwik-pro-analytics"
  3. Select Properties -> Restrictions. For "All logged-in users," allow both GET and POST. GET is checked by default.
  4. IF you had a different slot number than 1 in your Piwik PRO event dimension, click on the active version of Piwik Pro Analytics, select the Settings button, and change the Page ID dimension field to the new slot number.

3. Enter the API key in Site Settings

  1. Go to Site Settings -> Web Analytics
  2. Under Sitevision Cloud Web Analytics, paste the Client ID and Client Secret you saved from the Piwik PRO settings.

4. Configure settings in the Editor Assistant

  1. Go to Site Settings -> Editor Assistant
  2. Under Analytics -> MCP server providing AI tools for analytics, select the MCP server you downloaded from the Marketplace (Piwik Pro Analytics).
  3. Now everything is connected! You should now see the Analytics Assistant tab under the Editor Assistant icon.

Don't forget to assign the "Use Analysis Assistant" permission to the roles that need access to this feature.
