The Link Checker Panel

Here you can make settings for Link check. You can access the website settings from all pages in the structure, assuming that you have the appropriate permission.

Redaktörsmeny med artikelgenvägar

This function requires you to have "Manage website settings" permission.

Link checks

Check internal links when publishing

Choose whether you want to turn on link check when publishing. If an internal link is broken (for example, it is in the recycle bin), you will be notified of this at the time of publication.

Check external links when publishing

Choose whether you want to turn on link check when publishing here. If an external link is broken (for example, an incorrect address, a server that is not working), you will be notified of this at the time of publication.

When you have ticked both/any of these checkboxes, a link check is always performed when publishing. If there are incorrect links on the page, this is indicated in the publishing dialogue:

Scheduled link control

It is possible to set the system to automatically check so that all links are intact at predetermined times. This is done by tick marking this box. A new view shows where you can specify when these link checks are to occur:

Skärmdump på schemalagd kontroll

Start time

Specifies when the scheduled checks should start. Enter the date in the field or click the calendar icon to select dates from a calendar. Enter the time in the field or click the clock icon to select a time from a list.

Repetition

Select repeat from the list. The following intervals can be chosen:

  • Once
  • Hourly
  • Every day
  • Every week
  • Every month

Recipients of link checks

Here you determine who should receive the e-mail message with the report from the link check. Website manager is ticked by default. The following options are available:

  • Server manager - The address that is set up under Server properties -> Message
  • Website manager - The address that is set up under Website settings -> General -> Addresses.
  • Last published by - The e-mail address of the person who last published the page.
  • Editors - The e-mail address from a system value or a user metadata. The metadata that meets the requirements appears in the list.
  • Other e-mail address -Any address you enter in the text field.

An e-mail message will be sent to the specified addresses containing a list of incorrect links.

Mottagare

The e-mail message sent out from the link test uses the language set on the website.

If you set up internal/external link check during publishing, we recommend that you assign the editors "Publish with broken links" permission. Sometimes the links are correct, but the server you are linking to might be down. It may then be OK for the editors to still publish the page.

Excluded link addresses

Here you can add external links to be excluded by the link checks. For example, you might get a link failure of a link with a different protocol but you know it is actually correct. You can then add the link to the website so that the editors do not have to get link failure when publishing such a link.

Add excluded link address

To add an external link to exclude, click the Add excluded link address link to open a new view.

Run test now

Run check

Click the Run link check now button if you want to run link check immediately, and do not want to schedule a report.
