Metadata type Single selection
Single selection metadata is a metadata type where a number of selections are presented to the user, who in turn chooses one of them. The person who creates the metadata field can set a value that is preselected if the user does not select any of the options in the list. You can also allow the user to create a custom option.
For example
Single selection meta can be used to specify whether a news item appears on the home page. The options are then "yes" or "no". Only one option can be selected.
Follow these steps
The Add metadata field button can be found at the bottom of the Metadata panel. Click on the button to add a new metadata field. A new dialogue box opens where you make settings for the metadata field you want to create.
Click on the Add option link to enter the metadata values that the user can choose between for the metadata field. Click on the tick at the far right to add the option. Click on the cross to clear the option.
Click on the Import option from file link to import multiple options from a text file. The options must be in a completely normal text file (created in Notes in Windows for example) with only one option per row.
Check the Allow custom option box to allow the user to create another option themselves. The option is entered directly into the dropdown menu that appears when an option is to be selected for the metadata field.
After you have filled in the options that the user will be able to choose from for the metadata field, you can specify whether any of the options should be preselected. Click on the dropdown list to select an option to display if the user does not make an active choice of metadata value from the options.
Click OK or advance to the Permissions tab.
Metadata is versioned, which means that you must always publish the changes you make so they appear online.
To add or modify a metadata field , "Manage metadata field " permission is required.
