Sitevision's mobile app - RESTApi

In order to connect to your intranet via the "Sitevision Intranet" mobile app, you must have the RESTApp mobile app installed on your intranet. The RESTApp is available for download in the Marketplace.

To access the settings described on this page, first locate the "mobile-restapp" add-on. Click on that add-on, then select the latest version of "Sitevisions Intranätsapp - RESTApi" and click on the Settings button.

Settings

Display option to report user generated content

You can give users the option to report user-generated content, e.g. if an inappropriate comment or post has been written. An email is then sent anonymously to the designated website administrator.

View internal links in browsers

You can choose to open internal links in a browser directly in the app or allow internal links to be displayed in "Headless" mode.

Depending on the information you have on your link, one or the other may be more suitable. Try out what works best for your intranet solution.

Require users to accept the Terms of Use in order to log in and use the app

If your organization requires users to accept the terms of use before they start using the app, you can check this box and link to an external page where your terms are displayed.

Functionality

Enable app messaging feature

Turn on the messaging feature in the app by checking this box. To learn more about how Messages work in Sitevision, read the guide on Messages

Enable app social features

Enable this feature to access functionality related to intranet groups and notifications. If this feature is disabled, the intranet app's functionality will be limited.

If your organization does not use Sitevision's social modules, this is an alternative.

Show only for selected target audiences

For all sections under Functionality, you can choose whether you want everyone to have access to the feature in the app or whether only certain target groups should have access. Check this box and select from the target groups you have set up on the website. The content will then only be displayed to those in your target group.

Enable web view mode for content

Enable this if you want to use your responsive intranet inside your intranet app.

The mobile app can now display your existing responsive intranet in a WebView, directly integrated into the native app. This means that the entire intranet solution—content, modules, integrations, and personalization—is also available to mobile users.

It will also be possible to choose an alternative start page for the mobile app – in case you want a specific page instead of the "usual home page".

Want to show or hide content in the mobile app? Use views and our new rule criterion "Sitevision Intranet App."

Stories

Adds stories under the "For You" view in the app. Stories are useful because news items can remain visible for a little longer and don't disappear in a mixed feed of posts and news items.

Shortcuts

Select the folder in the structure where you have shortcuts to other pages/systems that you want users of the mobile app to access. These shortcuts will be displayed under the menu on the left side of the app.

Check the target groups for selection if you want to use the target groups you set up on the website.

You create your shortcuts as link pages directly in the folder.

There are different ways to trigger your login. One of these works better than others for your intranet. Y

  • Use in-app browser - opens the built-in browser in the app.
  • Use device default browser - redirects you to your phone's default browser, which then handles the login
  • Select browser by platform - lets your device decide which of the top two options to use. An Apple phone stays in the app's browser, while an Android phone opens the phone's default browser.

AI

Enable this to use AI features linked to the app's native GUI. If you have your own AI features that are used in your responsive intranet, they will be visible if you choose to enable the "Web view mode" feature.

GIPHY

If you want to use GIPHY in your feed, you must add a GIPHY API KEY in the module.

News feed

User field for "My labels"

Here you select a user field of the type "Label" that will function as "My labels" in the app. These labels will affect the user's news feed and give the user the opportunity to personalize their news feed.

The user field must be selected under "Website settings" / "Mobile app" / "Labels from user field" in order to be selectable in the RESTApp configuration.

Groups

Hide members

Enable to not show members in the app's listings.

Use custom set of group templates when creating groups

By checking this box, you can designate a custom group folder where groups created via this specific module will be placed.

Here you can choose to show or hide the option to search for different types of content in the app. You can also choose to limit the structure for where searches are performed.

The app is available for download in the App Store and Google Play.
